Our Team
Meet the dedicated people who make Progress FNQ special. We are more than staff; we are your partners in recovery.
The People Behind Progress FNQ
Our team combines professional qualifications with genuine care and local knowledge. We are not just here to do a job. We are here because we believe in what we do.
Our Director
Morie Lahai
Founder & Director
B-SW/MMH (Bachelor of Social Work / Master of Mental Health)
A Vision for Recovery
Morie founded Progress FNQ with a vision of providing high-quality, person-centred mental health recovery support in Far North Queensland. With qualifications in both Social Work and Mental Health, Morie brings a unique combination of clinical expertise and genuine compassion to the role.
"I started Progress FNQ because I saw too many people falling through the gaps. Large providers often treat mental health support as a box-ticking exercise. I wanted to create something different: a service where people are truly seen, heard, and supported to lead the life they want."
Morie's approach is grounded in recovery principles, cultural safety, and the belief that everyone has the capacity for positive change.
How We Build Our Team
We hire for values first, then train for skills. Every team member shares our commitment to recovery.
Qualified & Trained
All our support workers hold relevant qualifications and complete ongoing training in mental health recovery, trauma-informed care, and cultural safety.
Thoroughly Screened
Every team member holds a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and National Police Check. Your safety is our priority.
Genuinely Caring
We look for people who genuinely care about others. Technical skills can be taught, but compassion and respect are innate qualities we value.
Local Knowledge
Our team lives and works in Far North Queensland. We understand the community, the services available, and the unique challenges of regional living.
